Hon. Neil Wittmann, K.C. is one of Alberta’s most distinguished dispute resolution professionals, serving as a mediator and arbitrator following an exceptional judicial and legal career spanning more than 40 years. A former Chief Justice of the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta, Justice Wittmann is widely respected for resolving complex commercial, energy, construction, governance, insolvency, insurance, professional liability, and high-value civil disputes through practical, fair, and efficient dispute resolution processes. He is a member of the Alberta Academy of Mediators & Arbitrators and the Canadian Academy of Distinguished Neutrals (CADN).

Before his appointment to the judiciary, Justice Wittmann practiced extensively in commercial litigation, insolvency and restructuring, banking, secured transactions, contractual disputes, construction, energy, shareholder matters, and complex civil litigation. During his judicial career, including service as Chief Justice of the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta, he presided over many of Alberta’s most significant and technically sophisticated civil and commercial matters, earning a reputation for fairness, thoughtful legal analysis, and effective dispute management.
