Barbara Romaine, K.C. is a highly respected Calgary-based mediator, arbitrator, and former Justice of the Court of Appeal of Alberta, with decades of experience in dispute resolution, appellate advocacy, litigation, and adjudication. Following a distinguished judicial and legal career, Justice Romaine now assists parties in resolving complex commercial, insolvency, restructuring, energy, insurance, governance, construction, and high-value civil disputes through mediation and arbitration. She is a member of the Alberta Academy of Mediators & Arbitrators and the Canadian Academy of Distinguished Neutrals (CADN).

Before her appointment to the bench, Justice Romaine practiced extensively in commercial litigation, insolvency and restructuring, banking and secured transactions, energy disputes, corporate governance, shareholder matters, and contractual disputes.
